“Your Roots Are Showing is a stirring, entertaining tale of overcoming the odds and believing in yourself.”
Lizzie Buckley has everything a woman could possibly want; a beautiful home, a wealthy, handsome husband and two beautiful young children.
When an e-mailed rant accidentally goes to her husband instead of her sister, Lizzie’s picture perfect world falls apart.
She finds herself depressed and alone with her three year old twins Alex and Ellie while she looks over her new ‘home away from home’, Back Lane Cottage.
As she struggles to get her life in order, lose some ‘baby weight’ and hopefully win back her husband James, Lizzie finds herself falling even deeper into depression and develops even more emotional issues.
New neighbours help to divert her feelings of anxious loneliness; a quirky woman and her sexy gardener Bruno.
Lizzie’s life takes a turn for the better with the support of her friends and family.
Your Roots Are Showing is a well written story and I enjoyed reading it.
Some of the ‘British’ words took a little getting used to and I had to do a tiny bit of ‘translating’, but it was no big deal.
The characters we’re well developed and very realistic.
Lizzie’s emotional, psychological and physical struggles are almost certainly shared by countless women across the globe.
The story flowed well and kept me interested from beginning to end.
I was rooting for Lizzie and by the end of the book, I realized that I had emotional tears welling up in my eyes.
Such a lovely story about conquering the odds and making a success of life, even if it seems like an impossibility.
I recommend this book.
